CloudRoute vs Cloudvisor: what each one does for a startup on AWS.

CloudRoute is a free referral service. It matches a startup with one vetted AWS consulting partner, and that partner does the work and files MAP, POC or IW funding when AWS approves. Cloudvisor is an AWS partner itself. Its own team does the work. It also resells AWS: joining is free, and Cloudvisor then bills your AWS usage.

AWS
TL;DR
  • CloudRoute does no technical work and does not resell AWS. It picks one vetted AWS consulting partner for your project and introduces you. The partner does the work.
  • Cloudvisor is an AWS consulting partner, managed service provider and AWS reseller based in Vilnius, Lithuania. Its site says it is an Advanced Tier AWS Partner, and on 9 October 2026 it announced the AWS Managed Service Provider (MSP) designation.
  • Both can lead to partner-filed MAP, POC or IW funding. With CloudRoute, your matched partner files it. With Cloudvisor, Cloudvisor is the partner. Either way, AWS decides.
  • Neither one submits an AWS Activate application for you. You apply yourself.
  • CloudRoute is free for startups because partners pay it. Cloudvisor's reseller program is free to join: your AWS billing moves to Cloudvisor and, per its site, you get a discount on AWS spend.

side by side

IWhat is the difference between CloudRoute and Cloudvisor?

One is a referral service. The other is an AWS partner. That decides who does the work, who files the funding and who bills you.

If you only read one line: CloudRoute picks a partner for you, and Cloudvisor is a partner you can pick. They answer different questions. CloudRoute answers the question "which AWS partner should do this work?" Cloudvisor answers "who will do this work and run our AWS?"

who files what

IIWho does the work, and who files the AWS funding?

AWS gives partner funding to a partner, for work that partner delivers. So the real question is which partner does your work.

AWS's partner funding page says partner funds can help partners "explore proof of concepts, and accelerate migration projects". The MAP page adds financial investments to offset initial migration costs. These are AWS Partner benefits. A startup cannot request them itself.

With Cloudvisor, Cloudvisor is that partner. You talk to one firm, and that firm scopes the work, checks the funding and delivers.

With CloudRoute, you describe the work once and CloudRoute picks a partner for it. The partner you are matched with scopes the work, checks which route fits and files the request. CloudRoute files nothing.

For a startup, partner-filed funding can be $50K to $150K. Depends on the workload; AWS approves. That range comes from CloudRoute's partner records. The table below shows who files each AWS program.

reselling

IIIWhat does moving your AWS billing to a reseller mean?

Cloudvisor's AWS discount comes through its reseller program. Here is what its own FAQ says joining involves.

  • Your account joins Cloudvisor's AWS Organization: AWS emails your root user an invite to an AWS Organization owned and managed by Cloudvisor. Once you accept, your AWS spend goes through Cloudvisor.
  • Cloudvisor invoices you, not AWS: You get invoices from Cloudvisor with a due date, instead of charges from AWS.
  • Billing data only: Cloudvisor says its Organization is the consolidated billing type, so it sees billing information but not your resources, configuration or data.
  • One Organization per account: If your AWS account already belongs to an AWS Organization, it has to leave that Organization to join Cloudvisor's.
  • The discount: Cloudvisor lists 3% off all AWS spend and 50% to 90% off standard CloudFront rates. The 3% does not apply while credits cover your usage.

None of this is good or bad by itself. A discount and one invoice suit some teams. Teams that run their own AWS Organization, or want to keep billing directly with AWS, may prefer not to move.

CloudRoute does not resell AWS, so this choice does not come up with CloudRoute itself. If a partner you are matched with also offers reselling, treat it as a separate decision from the funding.

pick cloudvisor if

IVWhen is Cloudvisor the better fit?

Pick Cloudvisor if you want one firm to do all of this for you.

  • You want one AWS firm for everything: Migration, day-to-day operations, cost reviews and billing from the same team.
  • You want an AWS discount now: Its reseller program lists a discount on AWS spend and on CloudFront, plus yearly cost and Well-Architected reviews.
  • You want a managed service provider: Cloudvisor announced the AWS MSP designation on 9 October 2026. AWS describes MSP partners as providing end-to-end AWS services, from advice and design to running your environment (AWS).
  • You want a firm based in Europe: Cloudvisor is based in Vilnius and says it works across Europe, the USA and beyond.
  • You have already chosen your partner: If you know and trust a firm, talk to it directly. You do not need a referral.
pick cloudroute if

VWhen is CloudRoute the better fit?

Pick CloudRoute if you do not yet know which partner should do the work.

  • You want someone to pick the partner: You describe the work once. CloudRoute picks one vetted AWS consulting partner that fits the work, the stack and the region.
  • Your main question is partner funding: You want to know whether MAP, POC or IW funding fits your work. For a startup it can be $50K to $150K. Depends on the workload; AWS approves.
  • You want to keep your billing as it is: CloudRoute does not resell AWS and needs no access to your AWS account.
  • You are not sure what kind of help you need: A migration, a test or new work on AWS. The partner works out the route with you on the first call.

We reply within 24 hours; your matched partner reaches out within 5 business days.

aws activate

VIWhat about AWS Activate credits?

Neither CloudRoute nor Cloudvisor can submit an Activate application for you. You apply yourself.

  • AWS Activate Founders: $1,000 to start, up to $5,000. Apply yourself at aws.amazon.com/startups/credits. No investor, accelerator or partner needed.
  • AWS Activate Portfolio: up to $200,000. Apply yourself with the Org ID (or an invite) from your AWS Activate Provider. Apply within 12 months of your latest funding date. A consulting partner cannot file it.
  • AWS Credits for AI Startups: $200,000 or more, by invitation. Invite only. Talk with your AWS account manager. There is no open application.

Check amounts on AWS's own credits page, because some guides are out of date. On October 10, 2026, Cloudvisor's credits guide still gave Activate Portfolio as up to $100,000, while AWS's page says up to $200,000 (source).

Activate and partner funding are separate programs with separate rules. Ask your partner how they fit together for your project.

about this comparison

VIIIWho wrote this comparison?

CloudRoute did. Read it with that in mind.

CloudRoute and Cloudvisor both want to help startups that need help on AWS, so we are not neutral. We kept to facts anyone can check. Every Cloudvisor fact comes from cloudvisor.co, checked on October 10, 2026, and links to its page. Cloudvisor did not review this page.

how a match works

How a match works (example)

  1. You tell us about the work

You fill in a short form: what you run today, what you want to move, test or build, your stage and your region.

  2. We pick one partner

We read your answers and pick one vetted AWS consulting partner that fits the work, the stack and the region. We reply within 24 hours; your matched partner reaches out within 5 business days.

  3. The partner checks which funding fits

Your matched partner scopes the work with you. Then it checks which partner-filed funding fits: MAP if you are moving to AWS, POC if you want to test something, or incremental workload (IW) funding if you are already on AWS and launching new work.

  4. The partner files, AWS decides

If the work qualifies, the partner files the funding request with AWS. AWS reviews it and decides. The amount depends on the workload.

  5. You pay nothing

CloudRoute is free for startups. Partners pay CloudRoute a monthly membership plus 10% of AWS-approved funding.

AWS Activate credits are separate, and you apply for them yourself. Use Activate Founders if no investor backs you. Use Activate Portfolio with the Org ID or invite from your VC, accelerator, incubator or angel group if it is an Activate Provider. A consulting partner cannot apply for Activate on your behalf.
