What Render actually gives you

  1. Prototype (Founder credit)

New Render customers with at least $25K in seed/outside funding, under 4 years in operation, under $50M raised, Series A or earlier. No partner referral needed.
  2. Build
$2,500 in credits (startups from any enrolled partner) or $5,000 (select partners), plus onboarding resources and exclusive startup events. Render's application page quotes a partner range of $1,000 to $5,000, so the exact amount depends on the partner.

  4. AI

IV eligibility

Who qualifies

You likely qualify if

  • You are a new Render customer.
  • You have at least $25,000 in outside funding (the application page says the program requires this minimum).
  • Your company has been operating for less than 4 years (less than 5 years for the Scale tier).
  • You have raised less than $50M in total.
  • You are at Series A or earlier.
  • For the Build, Scale and AI tiers: you apply through a referral link from an accelerator or VC that is enrolled as a Render partner.
  • For the Scale tier: your funding comes from an enrolled top-tier VC; under $1M in funding gets $10K, $1M or more gets $25K.
  • For the AI tier: you have at least $2.5M in funding from an enrolled top-tier VC and the product is AI-native.
  • You have not previously received Render startup credits (startups may only receive credits one time).
  • Exception: founders or senior leaders with a strong track record at well-funded technology companies are occasionally approved without the $25K minimum, reviewed case by case.

You won't qualify if

  • Existing Render customers.
  • Startups with less than $25,000 in outside funding (unless Render grants a case-by-case founder-background exception); Render points them to its free tier instead.
  • Companies 4 or more years old (5 or more for the Scale tier).
  • Companies that have raised $50M or more, or are at Series B or later.
  • Startups that already received Render startup credits once.
  • AI tier excludes companies that only add AI as a feature rather than building an AI-native product.

Geography. Not stated. The application is an online form with no country restriction listed on the official pages.

V how to apply

How to apply to Render for Startups

  1. 01Create a free Render account at render.com (the application asks you to create your Render instance and include it in your application).
  2. 02If your accelerator or VC is an enrolled Render partner, ask for its Render referral link from its perks program and apply through it. Without a partner link you can only apply for the $500 Founder credit at render.com/startup-application.
  3. 03Complete the short application form on render.com/startup-application with company, funding and investor details.
  4. 04If your VC or accelerator is not enrolled, ask them to enrol via render.com/partner-application (the FAQ also points to render.com/startups/partners, which redirects to the same partner enrolment form), or email startups@render.com and Render will review your case.
  5. 05On approval, credits are applied automatically to your account (the application-page FAQ says within one business day) and you receive a confirmation email with kickoff instructions; Render says you have one year from the date of that confirmation email to use them.

VI what changed

What changed in 2025 and 2026

Eligibility was tightened in steps during 2026 (dated from Wayback snapshots of render.com/startups). In Nov 2025 the tiers were Launch ($500), Build ($5K flat), Scale ($10K/$25K) and AI ($100K), all with 'under 10 years in operation' and no raise or stage cap. By 21 Mar 2026 Launch was renamed Prototype. By 24 Jun 2026 Build changed from a flat $5,000 to $2,500 (any enrolled partner) / $5,000 (select partners) and Scale lost its Founders Slack and quarterly architect office-hours perks. By 9 Aug 2026 Render added caps of under 5 years in operation, under $100M raised and pre-Series B, and the AI tier also lost Founders Slack and office hours. By 23 Sep 2026 these tightened to under 4 years (5 for Scale), under $50M raised and Series A or earlier; the live page on 9 Oct 2026 matches that snapshot. The application page also states credits are granted one time only. The $100K AI tier is not new: it was already live in the 5 Nov 2025 snapshot, so third-party changelog entries (for example pricingsaas Q2 2026) saying a $100K program was added in Q2 2026 are incorrect.

VIII the AWS angle

Render credits and your AWS bill

Competes with AWS: Render is a managed PaaS that markets itself as "faster to ship than AWS", and its credits pay only for Render services, so they do not offset an AWS bill or Bedrock usage. Founders typically hold Render credits alongside AWS Activate and use AWS for what Render does not provide (GPUs, since Render lists no GPU instances and a public GPU feature request is still open; S3-style object storage; Bedrock models). Render also runs a separate migration-credits program (up to $10K, issued after a production migration, with AWS listed as a source option); pre-seed and seed-stage startups without production spend are not eligible for it and are sent to the startup program instead.

Can I combine Render credits with AWS credits?

Competes with AWS: Render is a managed PaaS that markets itself as "faster to ship than AWS", and its credits pay only for Render services, so they do not offset an AWS bill or Bedrock usage. Founders typically hold Render credits alongside AWS Activate and use AWS for what Render does not provide (GPUs, since Render lists no GPU instances and a public GPU feature request is still open; S3-style object storage; Bedrock models). On AWS, CloudRoute matches you for free with a vetted partner who can file MAP, POC or IW funding when the workload qualifies and AWS approves it. The Render application you submit yourself.
